I recently tuned in to a young man’s live stream from prison on IG, and I was so impressed with the content he was creating I liked and followed @istreamfromprison. That led to the creator contacting me and asking, “What’s the mission?”
I had to think about this because I’ve had the Prison Nation brand for years now and haven’t really thought about the mission.

Prison Nation is an organization of prisoners and former prisoners, family, friends, loved ones, and supporters united in solidarity. Our motto is “All for One; One for All.”
Prison Nation is not anti-police or law enforcement. We are not for defunding the police but do not support any funding of the Prison Industrial Complex, which includes the militarization of law enforcement and the privatization of prisons, jails, detention centers, community placement, supervision, monitoring, and all related services. Neither the State nor a business should profit off the prisoner incarceration industry.
Besides stating what Prison Nation is and is not, Prison Nation is a multimedia organization that informs the public about the prison condition in the United States. According to a recent report by The Prison Policy Initiative, the United States leads the world in mass incarceration.
Prison Nation is an open forum for prisoners. I encourage all prisoners to join Prison Nation. You can share your content with Prison Nation. Anyone can reach out to Prison Nation by email through the Kite Box. Or anyone can reach out to Prison Nation through our secure mailing address at: PO Box 6713; Toledo, OH 43612. Prison Nation is on Facebook and Instagram and has a YouTube channel.
I know some people will criticize the website and social media platforms. Please be aware that I’ve had the website up and down many times over the years, and this is just the start of the current website. In other words, this website is still in development. The problem maintaining the website and social media platforms is finding the time and money. I still have a job and other responsibilities I have do deal with, and a lot of what I deal with goes on behind the scenes. But anyone is welcome to offer constructive criticism, comments, suggestions, content, or input.
Coming features will include a sports page, classified/personals page, prisoner profiles, events, and more. I’d like to have weekly live-stream podcasts where anyone can call in and have their voice heard. Additionally, I am working on setting up a Prisoner Benefit Fund, Books-to-Prisoners option, and private concierge service. So stay tuned because bigger and better developments are on the way.
Stay tuned for further spectacular, amazing, mindboggling announcements from Prison Nation!
